For peace of mind, we strongly advise booking in the UK before you travel.  It’s worth knowing that tour operators are no longer legally allowed to sell transfer seats at Chambery Airport and that the public buses are few and far between, so it’s inadvisable to turn up without a plan.  Don’t take the risk.  Book your transfer online now.

Book Car Hire

Car Hire is a popular way of getting to resort. However if you are hiring a car you will need to consider the following:

  • Luggage - Most skiers have more luggage than the average holidaymaker, even those not taking skis. Make sure your car is large enough for you and your bags. Our reps at Chambery often see clients who have to try and change their car simply because their luggage will not fit. If you do have skis, you’ll want to pre-book a ski rack to carry them.
  • Snow tyres and snow chains - Mountain roads can be treacherous and it often snows on transfer days. Snow tyres and chains will add to the cost of your rental but chains in particular are essential. Check you know how to use them before it snows!
  • Parking- Parking in ski resorts can be limited and expensive. Be sure to check with your chalet, apartment or hotel that they have parking available. Remember to factor in the cost of parking when comparing the price of car hire to a transfer.
  • Other hidden Costs – Obvious perhaps to account for petrol in the overall cost of hiring a car, but don’t forget to also account for road tolls, insurance and child seats.

Holiday Autos car hire from £9 a day

Public Bus
If you want to get to resort on the cheap, the most economical route to take is the public bus, but please bear in mind the following:

  • Schedule - There are only three buses a day to/from Chambery airport on Saturdays and two on Sundays. Which means you could spend hours hanging around, wasting precious slope time.
  • Drop-off and Pick-up - The public bus will drop you at and collect you from a central point in resort and not at your accommodation.  Some resorts are surprisingly large, so consider how you and your luggage will cover the distance between the two.
  • Lateness – The bus will not wait either in resort or at the airport, waiting on the next one could mean a long wait or even missing your flight.
